Continuing Education

  • NMNPC has collaborated with Project ECHO over the past several years, recognizing its value for nurse practitioners in all areas of New Mexico. Project ECHO is a lifelong learning and guided practice model intended to revolutionize continuing education and exponentially increase workforce capacity to provide best-practice specialty care and reduce health disparities. The heart of the ECHO modelâ„¢ is its hub-and-spoke knowledge-sharing networks, led by expert teams who use multi-point videoconferencing to conduct virtual clinics with community providers. NMNPC supports Project ECHO because:
    • People need access to specialty care for their complex health conditions.
    • There aren't enough specialists to treat everyone who needs care, especially in rural and underserved communities.
    • ECHO trains primary care clinicians to provide specialty care services. This means more people can get the care they need.
    • Patients get the right care, in the right place, at the right time. This improves outcomes and reduces costs.
For more information about the weekly primary care TeleECHO Clinic, visit the Nurse Practitioner/Certified Nurse Midwife TeleECHO Clinic webpage. You can also get more information about this weekly virtual clinic from this interesting short video.
  • NMNPC recorded the track of presentations on non-cancer pain management offered at our 2015 annual conference on April 29. We offer those recordings as an independent learning activity on DVD available for purchase for those who were unable to attend the conference. The New Mexico Board of Nursing recognizes this program as meeting the CE requirement for NPs. Visit our online store to purchase the DVD program.

This program is approved for 5.0 contact hours of continuing education (which includes 5.0 hours of pharmacology) by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Program ID 1505251. This program was planned in accordance with AANP CE Standards and Policies and AANP Commercial Support Standards.

  • Free continuing education is available through the peRX Project, funded by the Attorney General Consumer and Prescriber Education Grant Program. The program developers aim to develop and improve awareness of drug development and pharmaceutical marketing practices and to positively impact prescribing behaviors, specifically among advanced practice nurses. Access the CE program here.
  • The American Association of Nurse Practitioners offers free continuing education to current AANP members and many offerings are also available free to non-members. Some CE is also available for purchase by non-members. Go to the AANP CE Center for more information or to register for a course.

If you have information about CE activities you would like to share, please contact the webmaster and we'll post the information here.
