Presentation Objectives

·      Provide an overview of the Prostate Cancer Support Association of New Mexico and the services and resources we offer for the informed patient.

·      Cover basic screening and diagnostic tools like PSA and biopsy as well as an introduction to some newer techniques like multi-parametric MRI. 

·      Provide information on surgery, radiation, hormone therapy and some cutting-edge treatments like HiFu, laser ablation and immunotherapy.

·      Considerations of side-effects.

Prostate Cancer Support Association of New Mexico

The Prostate Cancer Support Association of New Mexico (PCSANM) was founded in 1991 to provide education for men and families on the detection and treatment of prostate cancer. We offer:

·      One-on-one guidance for the newly diagnosed by trained facilitators.

·      Publications and other reading materials on a wide variety of prostate cancer subjects from our PCSANM office including new member folders.

·      A Buddy List of people to call to discuss treatment experience and side effects.

·      Bi-monthly support meetings including presentations by medical professionals expert in prostate cancer and related topics.

·      Outreach activities at conferences and health fairs.

·      Presentations to organizations.
