National and State Benefits
Affiliation as a group member with the following national NP organizations:
American Academy of Nurse Practitioners(AANP)
AANP is a national organization of NPs. NMNPC submits applications for approval of our continuing education (CE) activities to AANP. As a group member, we get a limited amount of CE approved free of charge each year. Individual NMNPC members may also be able to apply to AANP for CE approval at no charge using our group status. Contact NMNPC for detailed information and procedures. NMNPC uses our free CE approval through AANP for our annual conference first and will then consider other requests for using this service.
- The ACNP provides another avenue for obtaining continuing education with their clinical symposium held every fall. They monitor national legislative issues and advocate for all NPs.
American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP)

All health care providers must apply for a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number. Health care providers are required to begin using the NPI by May 23, 2007, but should not begin using this identifier until notified to do so by each individual health plan. All health plans, not just Medicare, will use this number. For further information go to NPI. An online application is available at NPI Application.
PLEASE NOTE! Some members have received an e-mail advertising a credentialling service to "help" NPs get their NPI for $11.50. This is not necessary! It is very simple and fast to get your own NPI from the Web site listed here. For more information about the NPI, download the December 2005 issue of the NMNPC newsletter.
