Spotlight on Heidi Ruybalid

Heidi Ruybalid, MSN, FNP-C is a clinician in her rural community. She graduated in 2011 with an ADN from San Juan College. She worked for eight years at the local hospital as an RN, first on the nephrology unit and then as a float nurse to all areas of the hospital. She served on the hospital’s governing body and spearheaded several clinical committees that changed policy and procedures.

In 2018, Heidi transitioned into the role of a primary care provider as a family nurse practitioner after completing her MSN at Chamberlain University in Chicago. She received her FNP credential through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Heidi started her new role in a busy multidisciplinary practice, Pinon Family Practice in Farmington, New Mexico where she sees a variety of patients and aliments. The ability to provide services to an underserved area and the challenges associated with that kind of practice is what keeps Heidi learning and growing. When asked what group is her favorite, she just answers “Everyone – that’s why I chose family primary care!” In the next year, Heidi plans to precept several FNP students and to become more active in NMNPC Region 1.

When she’s not working, Heidi spends time with her husband of 18 years, their three children and three dogs. They’re very active outdoors and are often camping, hiking, fishing and boating. Heidi is also Assistant Den Leader for her 7-year-old’s Cub Scout Den, Assistant Scoutmaster for her 16-year-old’s BSA troop and Scoutmaster for her 13-year-old’s BSA troop.
