AANP is a national organization representing a community of over 118,000 NPs and NP students. The organization works to enhance NP practice and improve the care our patients receive. AANP's mission is to empower "all NPs to advance quality
health through practice, education, advocacy, research and leadership." As a nurse practitioner organization (NPO) member of AANP, NMNPC supports their mission and receives benefits including networking opportunities, advocacy and representation,
continuing education, dues discounts for individual membership and access to mailing lists. NMNPC actively promotes the annual AANP State Excellence Awards and sponsors two members to attend the AANP national conference each year. AANP
holds elections for liaisons for each state, relying on the experience and expertise of NP leaders to guide AANP and advance the NP role. The current liaison for New Mexico is Gloria Doherty, and NMNPC welcomes and recognizes her commitment
to NPs in New Mexico.
AANP NM State Liaison Gloria Doherty, PhD, ACNP-BC Gloria accepted the role and responsibilities of AANP NM State Representative in July, 2022. She has previously served on the NMNPC Board of Directors and we look forward to her participation in advancing the role of NPs.
New Mexico NPs can contact Gloria by email or phone at (505) 350-2291
AANP STATE EXCELLENCE AWARDS Each year, NMNPC promotes nominations for the prestigious State Awards for Excellence presented by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) to two individuals from New Mexico. The State Award for Nurse Practitioner
Excellence recognizes a nurse practitioner who demonstrates excellence in practice, research, NP education, or community affairs. The State Award for Nurse Practitioner Advocate recognizes a significant contribution toward increasing
the awareness and acceptance of nurse practitioners. Honorees receive their awards during the American Association of Nurse Practitioners National Conference at an Excellence Awards ceremony and reception. In addition, NMNPC recognizes
the New Mexico winners at our Annual Conference each year in April. Click the button below for more information about New Mexico's AANP State Awards for Excellence honorees.
NEW MEXICO'S AANP FELLOWS AANP selects Fellows based on outstanding contributions to clinical practice, research, education or policy. Applying to become an AANP Fellow begins with a self-assessment, followed by securing an invitation from a Fellow who
will sponsor the individual's application process. Established by AANP in 2000, FAANP is dedicated to the global advancement of NPs and the high-quality health care they deliver. By engaging recognized NP leaders who have
made outstanding contributions and by developing NP leaders of the future, FAANP furthers the NP profession while enhancing AANP's mission. New Mexico currently has nine AANP Fellows. Click the button below for more information
