Spotlight on Lisa Cramm

Lisa Cramm is a family nurse practitioner practicing in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She graduated from nursing school in Canada in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Her love for science and math led her to a career in nursing, although she originally planned to become a teacher. At that time in Canada there were no jobs for teachers, so following a suggestion from a nurse acquaintance, she went to nursing school and states “It was the best decision I made, since I get to teach all the time in my job.” In 2016, Lisa became a nurse practitioner and notes that this was a natural progression in her career, citing she wishes she had done it sooner.

In addition to providing patient education, Lisa enjoys the versatility that nursing has to offer. She worked in various settings as a registered nurse, including medical/surgical units, ambulatory surgery, preoperative testing and at an endoscopy center. Since 2017, Lisa has been practicing as a primary care provider, treating the very young to the elderly. She finds her job challenging and loves the feeling that she is making a difference in the lives of her patients.

Throughout their married life, Lisa and her husband moved frequently as her husband was an Army Chaplain. Once he retired from the Army, they relocated to New Mexico and they love it here! Lisa states her future goals include obtaining her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, accompanying her husband on mission trips to Africa, and being the best FNP she can be.
