Spotlight on Brenda Murray

Brenda Murray grew up near the ocean in Southern California. She graduated with her BSN in 1978 from Montana State University and worked mostly as a pediatric intensive care unit nurse in California for 12 years. She joined the Indian Health Service (HIS) as a Commissioned Officer in 1990 working as an ambulatory RN with the Santa Fe Service Unit. She graduated with her MSN in 1999 from the University of New Mexico and is a family and pediatric nurse practitioner. She retired in 2016 as a Captain after 26 year with the HIS. During her time at the HIS she worked at tribal clinics through the Santa Fe Service Unit, Denver, Dulce and Crownpoint. She lives in Santa Fe and currently works part time at the Kewa Health Clinic in Santa Domingo. She specializes in women’s health care, but also does generalized family practice medicine. She enjoys cooking, hiking and yoga.
